You can't be too cynical
No matter how cynical you are, you're not nearly cynical enough!

Isaiah 5:20 -- Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.
(Woe to us, folks, for we have a nation have done that!)

Looking for the San Antonio Tea Party?  Just hit that link.  This is no longer The San Antonio Tea Party's home (it was once, and then it wasn't, and then once again it was, and now once again it's not).  This is now just the blog of little old me. Robin Juhl, proprietor (Webmaster@TheyThinkYouAreStupid.com).  That's ALL.  I'm no longer on the board of SATP and have no say in the policy thereof.  But God bless 'em.

THE 2nd AMENDMENT APPLIES TO THE STATES!

It's going to take me a while to plough through the 200+ page ruling.  (Enjoy it here.)

My initial reactions:

1.  They used the Due Process clause.  Boo!  The Privileges and Immunities clause would have been better.

2.  The hoplophobes  scream this will mean more deaths, ignoring reality -- where anti-gun laws are tightened, crime soars.

3. They also scream about how much this will cost.  Never seems to be a worry when it's one of their pet causes winning in court.  We have to allow anti-Americans the right to gather even though the have already announced plans to do violence?  Freedom!  We can't have FBI files on them?  Freedom!  Allow guns in law-abiding homes?  HORROR OF HORRORS--IMAGINE THE COURT CASES!

This was a step in the right direction, generally speaking.  The language of the Constitution is plain enough.  Only the Lilly-Livered-Lenin-Loving-Liberal-Liars could read it otherwise.

God Bless Arizona!

This video is AMAZING.  The governor of Arizona just rips into the president.  "The One" now has a "new one!"

I'd say it's time for the Arizona National Guard to do a sweep.  Or maybe just declare "open season: and let the unorganized militia handle it....

For $15.6 Septillion, we could build a Death Star!
Good Lord! Please, nobody tell Obama.
http://i.gizmodo.com/5146010/death-star-costs-156-septillion-14-trillion-times-the-us-debt

Imagine the opportunities for Chicago-style graft. That'd double the cost to $30 Septillion. Oh, and defense contractor cost overruns? Double that again to $60-90 Septillion. Run into any real technical problems and it'll start to cost REAL money!

Oh, wait -- READ the article! This is just for the basic materials:

That will only get you the very basic model of Death Star, no options, no GPS, no radio, no leather heated seats, no mega-laser to obliterate planets, no turbolaser towers, no computer systems, no miscellaneous life support systems, no crew quarters, no turbo-elevators, no energy generators, no showers, no air conditioning, no Darth Vader's jacuzzi, no Emperor's home theater system, and no bloody canteen.

God Bless Sgt Mom!

Julia's latest is very good (it's always good!)  Here's a sample of her latest Memo (part 5 of 7):

5. I do wonder, however - if the situation were reversed, and a wholly American-owned drilling company experienced a disaster of the same magnitude in, say, the North Sea, and the resulting oil plume threatened your coastline - what the tenor of public and media comment in your sphere would be, then. Just wondering - I'm deeply cynical, that way. BTW, from the tone of British and European media coverage of Obama in the 2008 election season, I was left with the distinct impression that his victory being welcomed with hosannas of happy joy by one and all. How's that hope'n'change working out for y'all? Miss GWB yet?

Do READ THE WHOLE THING.

An Austin Event

Thus sayeth Heather Liggett:

Wanted to make sure you were aware of the Americans for Prosperity event happening in Austin July 2-3. I was able to go to one in DC and it was an awesome event. They will have a 10th amendment panel, an SBOE panel and a "From Tea Parties to Taking Back America" panel and many more. This is a great resource for grassroots groups to make an impact in our nation.

Speakers, Agenda and Details are here and if you would send on to your group... http://txdream.org/

A Sci-Fi site that teaches real math

There's a Sci-Fi site that I like that has started something totally different--he teaches real math and does it very, very well!

One excellent example: "Converting Repeating Decimals into Fractions."  I've had oodles of math -- four semesters of calculus, differential equations, and lots of statistics, but I never knew the simple trick for converting a number like 6.234234234234... into 6-234/999 (when reduced, that's 6-26/111)

Don't Be Evil?

That's Google's official motto: Don't Be Evil.

Too often, they seem to think that means "Don't be patriotic Americans."  The latest case in point is highlighted in the Jessica's Well post "Why I use Bing instead of Google: June 6th Version." On the anniversary of the most complicated event ever planned, the beginning of the rescue of Europe and the world from Nazi dominion?  Nothing.  But just a few weeks before, on the 30th anniversary of the advent of Pac-Man?  They REALLY celebrate by turning the search page into the game.

When they go out of their way to poke you in the eye, at least avert your gaze!

On that note:  Check out the last part of this interview with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher):

Do you think Tea Party is just people who are pissed that there is an African American president?
Yup, and the fact that they chose to call themselves "teabaggers," which is slang for a certain act involving b***s. It sort of says a lot. I would say a mouthful. Looks like it's very upsetting for them, but he's brilliant. The thing is, he's half white but that's still not enough -- for them it's all white or f**k off. I think we don't deserve him and certainly teabaggers don't deserve him.

This is the face of Hollywood.  Spend much at the movies lately?

Quotes of the Day

"Here's what people need to understand: Government run health care is as well-run and responsive as Obama's handling of the oil spill. Too little, too late; missed opportunities; and the eternal drive for an "ass to kick" when the going gets tough."

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0610/38288.html

"If people are unhappy with the candidates who won then you have to ask yourself: how much effort did YOU put into pushing forth these candidates or did you just do the minimum, or none at all, and warm your hands by another patriot's fire?"

UNFAIR!
Recent Michigan Prosecutions for "Seducing an Unmarried Woman"

The statute, Michigan Penal Code § 750.532, provides,

Any man who shall seduce and debauch any unmarried woman shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 5 years or by fine of not more than 2,500 dollars ....

http://volokh.com/2010/06/08/recent-michigan-prosecutions-for-seducing-an-unmarried-woman/ via Instapundit (http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/100867/)

The full text is HERE:

750.532 Seduction; punishment.

Sec. 532.

Punishment-Any man who shall seduce and debauch any unmarried woman shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 5 years or by fine of not more than 2,500 dollars; but no prosecution shall be commenced under this section after 1 year from the time of committing the offense.

History: 1931, Act 328, Eff. Sept. 18, 1931 ;-- CL 1948, 750.532

Former Law: See section 7 of Ch. 158 of R.S. 1846, being CL 1857, § 5862; CL 1871, § 7697; How., § 9283; CL 1897, § 11694; CL 1915, § 15468; and CL 1929, § 16823.

So, two consenting adults consent and do what consenting adults do, but one is now a felon, simply because of his gender while the other is a victim, regardless of her actions. Imagine some 40-year-old "cougar" seducing an 18-year-old boy.  He's the felon!

Unfair (but fun) dig:  Which party is in charge in Michigan?

The Violent Left

Here we go again!

This illustrates two major points.  First, it's why I have always insisted that the Tea Party MUST have a policy of non-toleration of violence.  Remember THE RULES!  Second, it shows how the left is willing to use and to condone violence on their behalf.  Had this been the other way around, it'd be the lead story on national news.  Instead, we get this lame attempt to paint Tea Partiers as violent nutballs:

I especially love Andrea Mitchel's use of the term "militants" for us.  Same term they use for those who fly airliners full of innocent people into buildings full of innocent people.

Don't give the bastards ANY ammunition!  Keep it non-violent and keep those cameras rolling.  Video proof is our only defense.

Elementary catechism on the Constitution of the United States : for the use of schools

Saw this in a Facebook entry by Sheryl Meade.   Behold, Elementary catechism on the Constitution of the United States : for the use of schools. It''s from 1828 -- only 52 years after 1776!  That means that this was written "closer" to the revolution that WW-II is to us.  So, what does the Second Amendment mean?

Q. If the people shall be of opinion that any of the
acts of their rulers have been wrong, may they meet to-
gather to petition, that is publicly to ask, that these acts
may be altered ?

A. Yes, if they meet peaceably ; but if they behave
in a riotous or disorderly manner, they may, and ought
to be punished.

Q. May they meet with arms in their hands ?

A. Yes ; the right to keep and to carry arms is one
which belongs to the citizens at all times ; but arms
must not be used except to support the laws or to resist
an enemy.

Take that all you bastards who want to take away our guns! Yeah, I'm looking at you, Mayor Daley!  Anda hearty "Screw you!" to MSNBC & co.!

Rules for drinking from Christopher Hitchens

These make a lot of sense.  Pay heed:

Don't drink on an empty stomach: the main point of the refreshment is the enhancement of food.

Don't drink if you have the blues: it's a junk cure.

Drink when you are in a good mood.

Cheap booze is a false economy.

It's not true that you shouldn't drink alone: these can be the happiest glasses you ever drain.

Hangovers are another bad sign, and you should not expect to be believed if you take refuge in saying you can't properly remember last night. (If you really don't remember, that's an even worse sign.)

Avoid all narcotics: these make you more boring rather than less and are not designed-as are the grape and the grain-to enliven company.

Be careful about up-grading too far to single malt Scotch: when you are voyaging in rough countries it won't be easily available.

Never even think about driving a car if you have taken a drop.

It's much worse to see a woman drunk than a man: I don't know quite why this is true but it just is. Don't ever be responsible for it.

Guess Who Got a Free Apartment, Courtesy of BP

This is just fracking unbelievable.  After all the hell raised about Cheney's links to oil companies, one would think this would be trumpeted daily in the big media.  (But that would be in a rational world.)

The ties that bind. Remember Rahm Emanuel's rent-free D.C. apartment? The owner: A BP adviser

. . . Shortly after Obama's happy inaugural, eyebrows rose slightly upon word that, as a House member, Emanuel had lived the last five years rent-free in a D.C. apartment of Democratic colleague Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut and her husband, Stanley Greenberg.
. . .
Greenberg's consulting firm was a prime architect of BP's recent rebranding drive as a green petroleum company, down to green signs and the slogan "Beyond Petroleum."

Greenberg's company is also closely tied to a sister Democratic outfit -- GCS, named for the last initials of Greenberg, James Carville, another Clinton advisor, and Bob Shrum, John Kerry's 2004 campaign manager.

According to published reports, GCS received hundreds of thousands of dollars in political polling contracts in recent years from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Probably just a crazy coincidence. But you'll never guess who was the chairman of that Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dispensing those huge polling contracts to his kindly rent-free landlord.

Slime, filth and corruption -- Your Government at Work!

Seriously, this isn't BIG NEWS on all the networks?  Is there a chance in Hell that it wouldn't be a matter of life and death if this were a Republican?  Our country is il-served by our press and mal-served by our "leaders."

I Stand With Israel

(Taken from comments in Ken Emanuelson's Facebook discussion)

Joe had said (to someone else):

Judging by your profile picture you are obviously taking an extremely one sided view of this whole situation. I do not look at things in terms of moral absolutes of good vs. evil. The world is more complex then that, there are nuances and complex issues to contend with on both sides. When I make a decision I always try to be as objective ...

My answer came in a series:

Absolutes: One side seeks to kill the other side's children. The opposite side seeks to provide care to all children.

One side honors those who purposely murdered children as heroes and names kids sports teams after them. The other doesn't.

One side bulldozes homes because the families did not get the permits, beating old women to force them out, yet gets no bad press. The other side does that when rockets are fired at civilians from that home and is roundly criticized.

. . .

More absolutes: One side chants "Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas!" The other allows ships full of supplies through the blocade after making sure they aren't carrying weapons.

. . .

More absolutes: One side sneaks across the border to kill any Jew they can get their hands on. The other side arms their commandos with paintball guns in an attempt to spare lives.

As you can see, I give no truck to those who see any moral equivalence between those who are just screaming about how the want to kill all the Jews and Israel.

Both Christians and Moslems believe in "Armageddon."  The Moslems plan to be fighting on the side that attacks Israel.  Spin that into your moral equivalence mixer!  Those who plan to fight with The Devil against God will be evil then and are evil now.

$13,050,826,460,886.97

That's the debt this morning, according to The US Treasury.

Thirteen trillion dolalrs.

Imagine thirteen football fields, covered in pallets of $100 bills--double stacked!

Imagine your children and grand children being taxed into poverty just to keep up the interest payments.

Imagine ex-president Obama, living large in luxury while he laughs at the chumps who put him in charge.

What are YOU going to do about it?

Congress Rats

Some things should come as no surprise.  This is a bit old, but still angers....

http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/congressional-hypocrites-were-betting-against-stocks-as-country-collapsed-477789.html;_ylt=AvyNvYfUZ6EXKFqQ4dbBiFi7YWsA;_ylu=X3oDMTE2M2hvOWQ3BHBvcwMxMQRzZWMDdG9wU3RvcmllcwRzbGsDY29uZ3Jlc3Npb25h?tickers=gs,xlf,spy,^dji,^gspc,^ixic,qqqq&sec=topStories&pos=9&asset=&ccode=

Remember all that scorn in Congress about evil shortsellers betting against America and bringing the country down?

Well, it turns out Congress-people did it, too. And they used derivatives to do it, which they now say they abhor.
